Company: bthere

Description: Video production and distribution company that develops and distributes hard-to-access celebrity-focused content using both new (Internet, wireless) and traditional (television, radio) media.

Objective: To develop a business plan with integrated financials that attracts sufficient growth capital necessary to:

  • Sign syndication partners.

  • Sign advertising and sponsorship partners.

  • Acquire additional production equipment.

  • Accumulate content.

  • Procure additional office equipment and expand facility.

Results: BackBone delivered a comprehensive business plan, including best/worst case scenario projections across Y1-Y3, which achieved the following:

1. Identified Target Market: Serving what BackBone termed Gen I+, the 13 to 34-year-olds most apt to leverage the Internet for communication, information, and purchases.

2. Expanded distribution channels to accelerate content-delivery and increase revenue streams. These included:

  • Syndication arrangements with BMG Entertainment, Maximonline.com, Bad Boy Entertainment, Seventeen.com, and others for ongoing licensing, sponsorship, advertising, and subscription-based revenue.

  • Production/Programming partnerships with "offline" media, such as bthere’s arrangement to produce video content for Maxim TV.

The plan raised an initial round of venture capital in excess of $1.5 million. The proceeds enabled bthere to quickly emerge as the Web's definitive multimedia production studio and online broadcast platform serving the booming global youth market. Its ability to attract and aggregate a global youth culture, provided bthere and its affiliates with a vast consumer audience and a wealth of marketing and e-commerce opportunities. bthere is currently in its fourth year of operation.
